The MYSTERY of CHRIST’S INCARNATION BODY: Christ’s co-eternal deity and sinless humanity are mysteriously bound together. He became what He never was (truly human) without ceasing to be what He always was (fully divine). He is one Person with two natures, illustrated beautifully by the garments of the high priest, made of two materials—gold and linen—yet only one garment (Ex 28). Gold, like His deity, is discovered. Linen, like His humanity, developed. “These things I write to you…so that you may know how you ought to behave in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. And without controversy great is the MYSTERY of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory” (1 Tim 3:16). His virgin conception and sinless humanity were essential if He was to be our Savior. Note Isaiah 9:6 carefully: a Child born; a Son given!
