CHRIST our RIGHTEOUSNESS (1 Cor 1:30). J.A. von Poseck tells about two eager believers, but one had a deep sorrow: his wife was not saved. He, of the two, went to heaven first. Before he died, he asked his friend, “Promise me you will press on my wife her need of salvation.” He agreed and, after the funeral, went to see the widow. At first, she seemed responsive, but relatives drew her away and the man lost heart in pressing her further. Then one night his friend’s deathbed came before him, and he seemed to say, “Have you kept your promise?” Falling to his knees, he spent the night praying for her. In the morning, he went to see her and she received him, saying, “Thank God; last night I found my Redeemer!” The Lord had used a dream where she was invited to meet the king. But all her dresses turned to ashes, and she could not go. Then she heard a voice, “Only one garment will never turn to ashes: Jesus Christ, the righteousness of God.” And she put her trust in Him!
